DESCRIPTION
These deliciously fragranced sweet peas produce large, vibrant blooms in a variety of rich colours. The scent as you walk by is out of this world! It's our absolute favourite flower to grow here, and we sow them year after year. Pro tip – the seeds are so easy to harvest yourself, we even accept that we won't get any repeat buyers for this seed!
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
Autumn sowing: Soak seeds for 12 hours before sowing (optional, but does help with germination), then sow seeds indoors or in a cold frame from September to the end of October. Snip the top shoots off once they reach about 15cm tall. You don't want them growing too tall at this stage, and snipping them will produce a fuller plant with more flowers when it's time to plant out.
Spring sowing: Soak seeds for 12 hours before sowing (optional, but does help with germination), then sow directly into the soil from April to May. You could start them a bit earlier indoors but snip the top shoots off once they reach about 15cm tall, which will create a fuller plant with more flowers when it's time to plant out.
Harden off the seedlings before planting out, then space plants 15–20 cm apart in a sunny position. Provide support for climbing such as a trellis, netting, a wall to tie into, another plant, a tree; anything they can grow up really! Flowers typically appear from June to September. Pick regularly to increase flower production. Only let go to seed when you're ready to start saving them, as this will stop flower production.
