DESCRIPTION
This fast-growing annual produces thick, fleshy, oval-shaped leaves with a mild, slightly lemony flavour. Perfect for eating raw in salads while young and tender, the more mature leaves can be sautéed, steamed, or added to soups and stir-fries as a nutritious leafy green similar to spinach.
A versatile plant used in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine, it is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and essential vitamins, making it a healthy and delicious addition to your garden and your kitchen. It grows low to the ground and spreads as it matures, making it suitable for beds, borders, or containers.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
Sow seeds from March to August. For early sowing, start indoors using a heated propagator set to around 20°C. Seeds can also be sown directly outdoors once the soil has warmed up in early summer.
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them to their final growing position, spacing them around 10cm apart.
Choose a well-drained spot in full sun, as the plant thrives in warm, dry conditions. Regular harvesting will encourage continued growth and a bushier shape. Water moderately and once established, the plants are relatively drought tolerant.
NEXT BUSINESS DAY DISPATCH
Please note that Royal Mail is now delivering 2nd class post every other weekday (M-F), rather than every day as before. As a result, delivery times are now typically longer. We will continue to dispatch your order promptly, but please allow a little extra time for it to arrive due to these Royal Mail changes that are out of our control.
Please note: Once seeds have been dispatched, we cannot be held responsible for the results of your growing experience. Germination and plant performance depend on many factors outside our control, including weather, soil conditions, watering, and care. ALL our seeds are sourced from trusted UK suppliers and are batch-tested to ensure high quality and good germination rates. Seed counts provided in each listing are approximate; actual quantities may vary slightly due to natural differences in seed size and batch yields. By purchasing, you acknowledge that growing results may vary and accept the terms above.
