DESCRIPTION
Lepidium sativum, also known as Common Cress or Plain Cress. Cress is very quick and easy to grow, and also loved by children. Great used as a garnish for salads and sandwiches.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
Indoor Planting (All year round): Sprinkle generously on moist kitchen roll or cotton wool and keep moist.
Outdoor Planting (June – August): Sprinkle generously directly onto soil and keep moist.
Harvest when approximately 5cm tall.
CAN ALSO BE USED AS GREEN MANURE
(Sow approx. 8400 seeds (4 packets) per square metre)
Cress can be used as a green manure, particularly in gardens where quick-growing, lush plants are desired. Note: Cress is part of the brassica family, so avoid sowing it in areas where you plan to grow cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, or sprouts due to crop rotation considerations. Cress used as green manure helps improve soil fertility, structure, and attracts beneficial insects. Keep moist and in warm sunlight. When ready to harvest, cut with scissors, leaving about half an inch of root to allow possible regrowth.
NEXT BUSINESS DAY DISPATCH
Please note: Royal Mail is now delivering 2nd class post every other weekday (Monday–Friday), rather than every day as before. As a result, delivery times are now typically longer. We will continue to dispatch your order promptly, but please allow a little extra time for it to arrive due to these Royal Mail changes that are out of our control.
GERMINATION AND GROWING DISCLAIMER
All seeds are sourced from trusted UK suppliers and batch-tested for quality. Many factors such as soil condition, weather, watering, and sowing depth can affect germination and plant growth. By purchasing seeds, you accept that the number of seeds germinated and the eventual crop produced cannot be guaranteed.
