25 Rainbow Glass Gem Corn Seeds
Kaleidoscope Colours - Decorative & Edible
In Pictorial Packet With Growing Instructions
DESCRIPTION
A beautiful flint variety producing cobs in an endless kaleidoscope of colours. The kernels are translucent and shine like glass beads, hence the name ‘Glass Gem’. Plants are vigorous and can reach over 2m tall. While edible, they are not as sweet as traditional yellow corn and are most often dried for decorations, popcorn, or for making flour.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
To achieve fully mature cobs that begin drying on the plant, this variety ideally needs to be started under cover for a long growing season. Sow in early spring (March–May) in 7cm pots, 5cm deep. Keep warm to aid germination. Harden off before planting out. Choose a growing location that is sheltered, well-drained, and rich in humus to retain moisture. Corn must be planted in blocks (not single rows) for good pollination. This variety is vigorous and needs spacing between plants. Cover any surface roots with mulch or compost to help retain moisture. Do not allow the crop to dry out during hot weather, especially while flowering. Best grown in a warm, sunny, sheltered spot with a long season to allow cobs to begin drying on the plant.
NEXT BUSINESS DAY DISPATCH
Please note: Royal Mail is now delivering 2nd class post every other weekday (M–F), rather than every day as before. As a result, delivery times are now typically longer. We will continue to dispatch your order promptly, but please allow a little extra time for it to arrive due to these Royal Mail changes that are out of our control.
GERMINATION AND GROWING DISCLAIMER
All seeds are sourced from trusted UK suppliers and batch-tested for quality. Many factors such as soil condition, weather, watering, and sowing depth can affect germination and plant growth.
